GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! Do you know I made him leave? Do you know he begged to stay with me? He wasn't man enough for me. LET'S GO TO PRESS.

• Yesterday marked a new record for Oregon coronavirus cases, with a whopping 389 new cases statewide and an additional six deaths. Health officials say that the outbreak is largely due to community gatherings and through the workplace.

• There was a Black Lives Matter demonstration in Lents yesterday to show support for a Black man who said he was attacked by two white men with a baseball bat on July 3. The suspects were reportedly hurling racist slurs at the victim.

• Good news for renters: The Oregon Court of Appeals ruled to uphold Portland's renter relocation ordinance, which says Portland landlords must cover tenants' housing relocation fees if they've raised rent by at least 10 percent or issued a no-cause eviction. Our Alex Zielinski has more!

• State regulators are fielding hundreds of complaints from customers and employees that many businesses are not complying with Gov. Brown's mandate to wear face masks in indoor public stores and spaces.

• Portland City Council voted to withhold funds from an organization that controls 17 neighborhood associations in Southwest Portland due to suspicions of financial misconduct.

IN NATIONAL NEWS:

• America is currently acquiring over 60,000 new coronavirus infections a day (Miami-Dade County in Florida has a staggering 33.5 percent positivity rate), and even more worrying, the national death rate is once again on the rise after previously leveling off.

• Meanwhile some of the nation's hospitals are once again reaching a breaking point due to the onslaught of new COVID-19 patients.

• According to a new ABC/Ipsos poll, two-thirds of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling (mishandling? non-handling?) of the coronavirus and race relations in the country.

• States across the country are grappling whether or not to reopen schools in the fall, but willfully ignorant Florida Governor Ron DeSantis—who blatantly fought against stay-at-home recommendations thereby sending his state's coronavirus rates spiraling upward—thinks he has the answer: "If Walmart is open, then schools should open."

VERY MUCH RELATED:

• The CEO of Goya Foods—a staple in many Latino households—is inspiring a boycott against his company after he remarked that America is "blessed" to have Trump as our president.

• The TikTok teens are at it again, now retaliating against Trump for threatening to ban the app by attacking the president's campaign app with one-star ratings. MY HEROES!
