Commenter Graham drew our attention to this Shmitten Kitten post that asks: "What books would you wanna see on his bookshelf?" (Romantically.) Judging by the answers, a lot of chicks are into pre-coital sharing sessions about books they loved as a kid. I'm guilty of falling into that trap, too—what's that about? Is it that our ideas about romance are nostalgically connected to formative reading experiences—or that they form an easy common reference point? Or that living in a boxcar is sexy?

The Shmitten Kitten post activated the snob in me, at any rate, begging the question: What books DON'T you want to see?

I'll start! More than one Chuck Palahniuk book. Anything that originated as a blog.
