It's the second Tuesday of the month which means that a bunch of literary events are happening. In addition to the library's Local Press Love Fest. At 7 pm, First Rule of Book Club will gather for their monthly discussion/film screening. Tonight's book is Wild at Heart by Barry Gifford, film by David Lynch. If you haven't seen/read this, GO! Wild at Heart is a decent read, a breezy crime novel at best, but Lynch's film is a dark, surreal masterpiece, highlighted by career performances from Willem Dafoe, Diane Lane, Laura Dern, and the immortal Nicholas Cage. FROBC meets at the Backstage Bar at 3702 SE Hawthorne Blvd., behind the Bagdad Theater.

This month's Smalldoggies reading commences at 8:00 p.m. in the basement of The Blue Monk as usual. This month features Anis Mojgani, Mike McGee, and Robyn Bateman, with music from GAMMA KNIFE (with super stud Dave Bow!)! How many good things can I say about Smalldoggies events?

Sorry, was that not rhetorical?
