If she really wants to deal proactively - and safely, as you note, with energy use issues, she can talk with management about using energy saving lighting devices and exercise equipment. And the irony of her using an elliptical machine to exercise is lost on her? But guess what? You're the one that's delusional if you are ignorant as to the difference it can make if each person is saving a marginal amount of power in each thing they do (and so long as corporate asses are doing likewise - but they will tend to as they have a profit motive in reducing energy costs).
