Sounds oddly similar to when my car was stolen in Portland, as well - arraignment and all. They actually just left me some stuff. My car was full of sand, a few empty cider bottles, and a Taco Bell bag/receipt that showed just how courteous they were. They drove all the way out to Stark at 205 just to bring my car back about 15 blocks from home, and only three blocks from work in NW.
Although, if they hadn't parked it on private property, I wouldn't have had to pay $250 for the tow and two hours it was in the tow lot.
