Doctor's Note

Hey, Doc(that writes to the Merc?) don't you have a self-righteous ego to attend to?
2
Did it ever occur to anyone that some people's income relies heavily on these tools over-prescribing? What makes this Doc so special?
3
Did it ever occur to you that some people actually have legitimate chronic pain issues that need your help, and that this stupid war on drugs is holding the entire USA hostage to discrimination and cruelty, and has marginalized or outright criminalized thousands upon thousands of innocents? How many peoples' lives do you justify ruining through your ridiculous God complex?

Do you guys realize how often we deal with drug seekers? Every. Single. Day. All my non -medical friends are shocked by the stories I tell them. Next time you are in pain and the doc doesn't want to give you meds, blame the drug seekers. This written by a doctor that suffers from chronic pain.

You guys have no idea how often we deal with drug seekers. Every. Single. Day. My non-medical friends are shocked by the stories I tell them. When I am on call about half of the people calling (waking me up at night when I have to get up in the morning to work) are blatant drug seekers. And it makes me so mad because necessarily as a provider you have to become cynical. And then patients who are in legitimate pain suffer.

Abuse of prescriptions drugs is an epidemic. More people die from prescription drug abuse now than from any other drug. So if you say doctors should just give drugs to whomever asks, you are not aware of the scope of the problem, or of the responsibility that comes along with the right to prescribe. And all of us have believed patients and felt bad and given them what they asked for over and over and over again, just to find out they were lying to us all along. Next time you are in pain and your provider won't give you drugs, blame the drug seekers.

@misc...wow..I'm not a drug addict or a doctor. But i try not to be judgemental, however, it looks like with all that education, you're still a discriminating judgemental prick. I just didn't realize that with your doctorate, that you were ordained the hand of judgement as well..

Hey doctor,
Thanks for the time that you would only prescribe me four pain pills after I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I have never been any kind of drug user or abuser, but I was in SO MUCH PAIN that I combined over the counter pain meds with alcohol because I was DESPERATE. Thanks so much!! That was so good for my body (and my self esteem for that matter).

Should the doctor have sympathy on people who are hoping to take advantage of his sympathy? If the answer is no, how should the doctor discern who is in this category and who is truly deserving of his sympathy? And if its not the role of the doctor to discern this, wouldn't the extremes be complete naivete and complete assholery?

Unless you are in severe freaking pain after a major surgery nobody needs Oxycodone. I broke my back and realized that the pain medication wasn't doing much so I stopped taking them. Bunch of pill heads excusing why they can't face life and saying no one should ever tell them the truth.

As a recreational drug user, it's nice to have something mellow for hang-over days. You know, like a glass or 3 of red wine, and a hit off the ole bong. I have left-over oxys and vic in my cabinet still from an old thing from last year, but I won't touch those things unless my L4 and 5 are acting up, which they only do once or twice a year if I don't exercise. There are some roads recreational folks should reconsider going down, I've never had the inclination to be a seeker. I'll stick w the occasional dip of molly and whiskey, neat. For people with serious pain management issues, scripts will be written by a long-term provider and reassessed often. Anon sounds like he gets hit up w new seekers, which makes his position understandable. Now back to the Bota box... :)

A simple drug test would sort out mr.gods inabilty to diagnose a patient. God forbid someone dying of terminal cancer sought his help. They would end up suffering a horrible death because the doc is scared of losing his license, probably because he prescribes himself the same drugs he is denying patients of..

Please wait...
