Opposite Marriages

Comments

1
Again, I ask: Why do people WANT to get married? What benefit is there to doing this act?
2
Seriously? Letโ€™s seeโ€ฆ
1) Tax breaks
2) Health benefits for partners
3) Legal authority of partnerโ€™s estate during mental incapacitation or death
4) Affirmation of the relationship
5) Adoption rights
6) Immigration rights for foreign-national partners
7) Because they DESERVE TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO AND NOT HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHY!

1. The tax breaks are miniscule when you compare the cost of not getting married/divorced.
2. I'm not married and my partner gets full health benefits. Most F500 corps offer this within their benefits packages.
3. Easily attainable without a marriage. In both cases you must consult the same attorneys.
4. The relationship itself is affirmation of the relationship. Why does this have to have a ceremony associated with it, government supervision, etc?
5. This is a reason? Who says a married couple is any more capable of parenthood than a nonmarried couple? Why the discrimination?
6. Again, something that certainly needs to change. The act of marriage in and of itself is no guarantee that a citizen will join the new society.
7. Now we come down to it: you just want to be part of the silly traditions.
4
Just because some people wish to participate in a tradition that *you* consider silly, ?pqM)mH{5i*7V7wVNiH?tcvUk'j>tH\VF5!V+00HY?jgK7@iA<_(B0Mii*:@e9Iq, doesn't make *their* desire nonsensical. Clearly, others act as if marriage is seriously meaningful for them, which is possible without creating a logical contradiction because THEY'RE NOT YOU.

Please wait...
