I'm going to disagree with the LITL analysis (though not the advice) and it's based on the little cliché "Taking it to the next level".

My guess is that she had *all* the levels worked out in her head and never told him about it because she was afraid he'd get spooked until he'd been marched down the aisle and into the mortgage office and delivery room.

Guys do pay attention, and can read between the lines, and past a certain age have seen this before.

I'm going to give a big thumbs down for false advertising, for not saying that the "next level" cliche could happen, was happening, and that she'd had it all worked out except for one small detail - his interests.

He had the integrity to be forthright about having met someone else, and given the reaction would likely be pretty gunshy about hanging with his "casual" girl again given that she's tipped her hand.
