Everyone's freaking out at the prosecutors for bringing charges, but I'm not hearing nearly enough about why the school saw fit to expel a senior for dating a freshman.

Sadly, this happens to males too. It happened to a coworker, he was 18 and she was 16 and Dad didn't like the relationship and filed charges. They were both in high school.

10yrs. later while being promoted to insurance management, a new background check found the conviction and he was fired.

He still has to report as a sex offender too. Lame.

So you think that a 18 year old guy wouldn't get into trouble for dating a 14 year old girl?
Oh, c'mon now Barbara.
And you call this misogyny?
You are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for stories, aren't you?

I don't agree with the prosecution, but the suggestion that an 18 year old guy could bang a 14 year old girl, the cops could find out, and he would just get some high fives is ludicrious. I have a friend whose son got caught with his girlfriend going at it in a car by a cop, they were 18/16 both sets of parents approved, he was still arrested and prosecuted, over the objections of the girls parents who liked him and were very upset about the whole thing. The conversation should be about further relaxing these laws and not putting kids who are dating other kids on sex offender registries ever, not whether or not this is gay discrimination.

Ummm, 18 and 14 is a bit of a stretch and is considered statutory rape in most states. Sure, the school kicking them off a team is stupid, but the 14 year old's parents have every right to press charges, regardless of the gender of the 18 year old.

Please wait...
