Wow, three big announcements in one day from the Portland police. One firing, one Nazi-lover suspension, and now two officers arrested for DUIs.

Here's the details:

On November 6, 2010, at 11:18 p.m., Officer Joshua Sparks a three-year veteran of the Bureau, was arrested and charged by the Washington State Patrol for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. Officer Sparks was stopped by a WSP Trooper for going 72 mph in a 60 mph zone.

On November 14, 2010, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Officer John Shadron, an eleven-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, was arrested and charged by the Gresham Police Department for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. Shadron was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the area of Southeast Salquist Road and Southeast Orient Drive in Gresham. Gresham Police were dispatched to investigate the collision and arrested Shadron for DUII. There were no injuries to either Shadron or the driver of the other vehicle and there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Another officer, Scott Dunnick, was arrested in September for DUI and who can forget last spring when ex-cop union President Scott Westerman and James Chasse Sergeant Kyle Nice were involved in back to back road rage incidents? Apparently it's time for a new stereotype: cops are terrible drivers.
