Well look at which Portland based apparel designer and manufacturer has scored herself a book deal now: It's Alyson Clair of Clair Vintage Inspired, tapped by the also-local Coletterie, a sewing-centric site that also produces a popular series of sewing patterns for sale on their site:

A coat like this at Frances May? Easily $300+. The Colette pattern goes for $12 for a printable download or $16 for a delivered, pre-printed version.

Clair, who's worked for the big sportswear companies as her day job as well as producing her own line, know her way around sewing productions big and small, and her first book on the subject is focused specifically on what you wear all the time, probably without thinking of it: knits, as ubiquitous as they are difficult. Head over to MOD for more on the project, including the book's launch date.
