How about this: He goes to prison, and a sheriff's deputy escorts him to work each morning and back to prison each evening. Meanwhile, his entire paycheck goes to her. He gets the "time" (and maybe a few beatings of his own) that he deserves, without "depriving her of support."

Although that "bare back" action...whew! Mercy!
