I liked that time when The Mercury -- and every other newspaper in Oregon -- overlooked the liabilities of PDX mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith and stomped on PDX mayoral candidate Eileen Brady so that mayoral candidate Chas Hales won the day. We were all so surprised that it didn't work out well for us after we elected a Vancouver resident (Hales) and lobbyist for real estate developers (Hales) to be our mayor. I guess editor Humphrey was not into fucking shit up at that point, but it happened anyway. Let's hear it for fucked-up shit!
