Admittedly, the Indian Rez has the really big bangers, but this brother and sister firework-selling team tell you how to shop for the best deals on fireworks at the local stands around town.

• Cuckoo ($1.99): "For the money, this is the biggest bang for your buck. It whistles and crackles. It's also buy one, get one free."

• Pop-Its (59¢ for 2 boxes): "Everyone likes these. You can throw it at your brothers and sisters. It's fun because there's no lighting involved."

• Purple Rain ($1.99): "A solid choice. It's a shower of sparks and purple balls. Very pretty."

• TNT ($19.99): "This is the Grand Finale type. It puts out six feet of sparks and whistles loudly. It also lasts for a while."

It's a balmy evening after a full day of curb shopping and beer. Kick the front door open and flake out with one of Ryan's quality flick picks. Just keep your filthy feet off the sofa, stinky.

Dark Days (2000): "An amazing documentary about tunnel dwellers in New York City. It's totally dark."

The Dancing Outlaw (1991): "A documentary on this amazing guy, a tap dancer who dances and plays harmonica somewhere in the South--great dancer. He's really into Elvis, and thinks he's famous."

George Washington (2000): "The Southern version of Stand By Me. It's a very funny, coming-of-age story about a group of friends in the South."

Rat Catcher (1999): "About the Glasgow garbage strike in the '70s. It's really gray, with kids who drown in the rivers there--beautiful film."

Fruit Of The Vine (1999): "It's about these old punk guys who bowl skate. I aspired to be that when I was a kid."
