C'mon--you've gotta be at least a little tired of laptop music and math rock. You need a break, and in order to keep these last weeks of summer hot, we asked Brian to pick a few exemplary albums to extend your endless sonic summer.
-- Salsa Mundo: "An excellent example of how salsa is taking over the world. You won't be able to tell that it's not Latin salsa… until suddenly you hear a guy singing in French."
- The Latin Real Book Sampler CD: "It's salsa, Latin, jazz--nice music. Easy to listen to, and it encompasses all types of jazz and the best performances of those styles."
- A Giate by Mamady Keita: "A drum master from Guinea. He was a child prodigy, and is the guy of djembe."
- Mustafa Addy: "An excellent example of the traditional Ghana style. Really popular in Europe and Africa. Not as frantic as djembe drumming; it has a softer tonage, but it's just as exciting."

It's hard to keep your body nice-smelling and youthful when the harmful rays of Portland's eternal summer are beating down. Paige has a few skincare recommendations for all your most beautiful parts.
-- Thyme lip balm: "In the summer, I don't leave my house without it. It keeps my lips soft, and it has SPF 15."
- Organic Sunflower & Shea Massage Oil: "I like to custom scent it, with oils of orange, rose, and peppermint, then share it with my special summer buddies."
- Rose water in a spray bottle: "It's better than a bouquet of flowers, because it doesn't wilt."
- Dr. Hunter's Foot Crème and a pumice stone: "It's important to keep your feetsies smooth and invigorated during the transition from summer to fall, when they get a lot of wear and tear."
