If you have not been to the excellent karaoke lounge that is Voicebox, go there now. It's everything good about karaoke (private rooms, plenty of songs, ample drinks to help with the bravery component), and none of the bad (creepy KJs, some stranger ruining your life with an extended version of "Hotel California").

So it's great news that Voicebox is the venue for "Pop Night," a karaoke benefit for the nonprofit folks at PDX Pop Now!. Here are the details:

With the "Make it Pop!" fundraising event successfully complete, PDX Pop Now! is proud to announce the next opportunity for Portland music fans to show their support for the non-profit group. On Thursday, May 14th at 6 PM, karaoke venue Voicebox (2112 NW Hoyt St.) will host "Pop Night", an evening of karaoke dedicated to PDX Pop Now! and the Portland music community. For an entry fee of $8 (all of which goes to funding the PDX Pop Now! effort), participants can stay and sing until the doors close at 11pm. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the bar, and attendees can relax in the central lounge or check out any of the six party rooms, where individual karaoke stations will be set up and available for use. Most exciting of all, several local Portland musicians will be in attendance and joining in for the fun. This event is for ages 21 and over. Stay tuned to PDX Pop Now!’s website and Facebook for more info on special guests.

I'm assuming the karaoke options will not be limited to songs from "the Portland music community," but just in case, I am learning the entire JonnyX And The Groadies catalog. Get ready.
