The indie roots music fest out at Pendarvis farm is known as a place to bask in a whiskey still explosion of genres—from bluegrass to newgrass to blues to alt-country-electro-dance-rock (yes, I made some of those up). But hundreds of hungry attendees means hundreds of bellies to feed. This year, Pickathon is coming correct with some awesome chow.

The highlights and a smoking-hot Mercury ticket deal, after the jump!

Al Forno Ferruzza

It looks like the lovable pizza tossing stoners from Northeast Portland will be at the helm of two operations. I assume one will be their amazing psychedelic school bus tricked out with dual pizza ovens (which I once watched them slow-speed-crash into the side of Washington High School). The other joint will be something called the Pickathon cafe. The non-cafe location will focus on pizza, stromboli, and calzones, while Ferruzza’s Pickathon cafe will focus on everything from pancakes to sandwiches to lasagna.

I can vouch for Ferruzza’s delicious pizza pie. I cannot, however, guarantee that you will wind up receiving what you actually ordered (they once forgot I’d paid them a mere minute after I had paid them). Whatever you get, it will likely be tasty. So just chiiiill, maaaaan.

Violetta

I want to get one of their hand-dipped Painted Hills Natural Beef Frank corn dogs into my belly… Right NOW! That’s mostly because I know what they can do with your average burger, which they’ll also be flipping at fest. Also on the menu: soups, hand cut white truffle fries, Oregon line caught albacore tuna salad, and some breakfast goodness.

Pine State Biscuits

I would be more psyched about Pine State being at the festival if I didn’t know what kind of lines their fan-fucking-tastic biscuit sandwiches could generate. If I can manage to get a McIsley—featuring fried chicken, pickles, honey, and mustard between their fine biscuits—then I’ll be a happy fellow. But I’m not going to miss Richmond Fontaine because I was standing in line for Pine State, I don’t care how good they are.

Toast

Another killer brunch-ish option, Toast will be rocking this ingenious creation: Pork Belly with basil and greens, heirloom tomato, and two scrambled eggs... on toast. They had me at Pork belly. They’ll also be putting out a daily brunch special, pork, a lamb shoulder sandwich, and more pork.

Whole Bowl

Veg heads do not despair! There is plenty for you to eat too (of course). One of your best options, and one I’ll certainly be hitting, is the Whole Bowl. The deal is incredibly simple, easy, and filling: brown rice, red and black beans, avocado, salsa, black olives, sour cream, Tillamook cheddar, cilantro, and their extra special “world famous” sauce. Yum.
