Five former American GI's, stationed in Germany in the mid-60s, put down their guns and picked up some instruments. What they created was some of the most dissonant, frantic, kinetic, stomping garage rock of it's time, that continues to resonate through the world today (last year, Light in the Attic Records reissued their full-length, Black Monk Time, and released The Early Years, a collection of raw, early demos). Today, I raise my hand to my forehead and give salute to The Monks.
