Before embarking on a monthlong residency on the other coast (Zebulon in Brooklyn, NYC, to be precise) singer/songwriter Jolie Holland is playing a one-off show next week at the intimate Laurelthirst Public House, right here in Portland. Holland is no stranger to Stumptown—she's recorded here, and poached some of our city's finest musicians for her touring band—and usually fills much larger venues, so it'll be a great chance to see her in the cozy Laurelthirst. There will be a cover, and Michael Hurley plays an opening set, and the Laurelthirst site says "limited capacity, come early!" so you have been warned.

Holland will hopefully be showing off some new songs—complete with that new song smell—from her forthcoming record Pint of Blood, which is due to be released on June 21 at this point, although these things are always subject to change. The record reportedly includes the talents of musician/filmmaker Grey Gursten as well as Sam Amidon collaborator Shahzad Ismaily.
