Following up their stellar Sex in the City EP and a host of sizzling live shows, Portland smooth groovers Shy Girls have a brand-new song, and it's perhaps my favorite tune of theirs yet. "Under Attack" is a red-hot slo-jam, a steady boiler that shows just how well this group has updated classic R&B sounds to something that's fully up-to-the-minute. It's the track they often end their excellent live sets with (complete with soprano sax solo), and the studio version of this track is the best thing the rising local group has yet committed to tape.

"Under Attack" will appear on Shy Girl's much anticipated debut full-length, which frontman Dan Vidmar tells us is hopefully coming out in early 2013. We'll let you know all the details about that as soon as they are confirmed.

It's Monday morning. It's dark and cold and raining. This song fixes all of that.
