Dirtnap Records has long been a stronghold of all things gunky and good, releasing some of the finest punk, power-pop, and garage records the Northwest has ever seen. In September, Dirtnap will celebrate its 14th anniversary with two shows, one at Slabtown on Friday, September 20, and a second show at Highline in Seattle on September 21.

Dirtnap was started by Ken Cheppaikode in Seattle way back in the 20th century. In 2005, Cheppaikode bought Green Noise Records here in Portland and brought Dirtnap with him. (Green Noise is now located at 3840 Gladstone.) Over the years Dirtnap's released 130 records by bands like the Spits, the Mean Jeans, the White Wires, Marked Men, and of course the Exploding Hearts. Some of those, and more, will be at the Portland anniversary show. Check out the lineup:

Marked Men (Denton, TX)
Bad Sports (Denton/Austin, TX)
White Wires (Ottawa, CAN)
Sonic Avenues (Montreal, CAN)
Mind Spiders (Fort Worth, TX)
Low Culture (Las Cruces, NM)
Mean Jeans (Portland)
Guantanamo Baywatch (Portland)
Youthbitch (Portland)
Autistic Youth (Portland)
That's a lotta gravy. Dirtnap also has records from Bad Sports and Mind Spiders on the way, plus a Marked Men singles comp.
