Charly Bliss, Emily Reo

On Charly Bliss’ 2017 debut, Guppy, singer Eva Grace Hendricks sounds like she broke into a Party City store and sucked some helium tanks dry. The entire album explodes with carbonated sweetness, confessional lyrics, and unforgettable one-liners (like “stuck my gum on his soul”). The band’s new record, Young Enough, is far more energetically measured, with shiny production, slow-burning electro-pop melodies, and songs that reflect on an abusive relationship. It’s serious and searingly funny, and it’s a whole new era for Charly Bliss.
