Generally speaking, I believe the combination of design taste and crowd sourcing to be an uneasy one, but web developers have long been fascinated with the idea of consumer-controlled, vote-based product direction (remember these?). And now a new site based out of San Francisco called Inspirare is recruiting small-batch apparel designers (according to their PR person they have clients in Mexico, Italy, and Romania as well as the US), providing them with the funding to launch their brand, and allowing the public to weigh in on the design process.
