If you’re not religious or don’t have family in town, it’s really just an excuse to brunch and get day drunk, amirite?! My friends used to have this epic party at their house where we’d eat and drink all day and then finish up with a game of stickball. It was awesome and became a yearly tradition—but when that sadly ended, I found myself at a loss for some sort of friendly Easter gathering. Flash forward to receiving my first invite to Pastel Brunch, and boom! Suddenly I’ve got a new tradition! Pastel Brunch needs little explanation: It’s people wearing pastels, eating brunch. Well, okay... there’s a little more to it than that.

For example, there was someone shucking oysters in the back all day. There was a dance performance by Indigo Calypso, and singing from LmbrJck_t. Chanti Darling was DJing and MCing all day, and toward the end, the dance party really got going thanks to DJ Chelsea Starr (and the boozy coffee drinks made by the Dossier bartenders). There was a digital installation by Dynmo, and... hell, OLO even made a custom spring fragrance for the damn thing! But what struck me most was just how pleasing to the eye it was to be awash in a sea of pastels. I hope the pictures do it justice, but they probably can’t—so just come next year, would ya?! And make it your tradition, too. xo, PP
