Hey White People—You're Invited!

A Note About the Portland Black Film Festival

Back in '95, I took Mike Scheckla, the Trail Blazer's mascot Hippy Fan, to see Bootsy Collins with Funkadelic and the Mothership at Fort Mason in San Francisco. As we passed through Oakland 19th Street Station, he was talking Ebonics to a brother on the BART, bragging about how we were going to the show. I figured that were going to be the only cracker asses at the venue. When we got there, the place was packed with nothing but a bunch of white college kids. Nobody else could afford the tickets.
