As a non supernatural Jonestown story, I found this quite good. The idea that Vice reporters going missing would bring the US government down on anybody is ridiculous. But the quote "they'll bring their guns," etc. is right out of Jim Jones' mouth. The Jonestown people act their parts excellently. The Vice reporters weren't great, and the ending was rushed, so it has flaws. And I wish this had been more like (his?) supernatural cult segment in VHS2.
But this movie is very cohesive. Even in House of the Devil, his best, there are many technical flaws. Why must this girl be kept alive and unharmed until the eclipse; how do they know she'll get pizza; how is the pizza delivered by their cohort with no cell phone; how does her eating a small amount poison her. This movie is probably Ti's technical best. Even though we wish it were horror maybe and not thriller.
