I can't think of a more perfect replacement. This is awesome!

This news is most excellent. I hope they manage to pull it off. They have an excellent pizza, but that spot just seems like it'd be hard to run a business out of (assuming rent costs are super-high).
3
I predict Sizzle Pie kills it in this space. Good, cheap, (non-cart) food in a great location, with booze and vegan options. Rent might be high, but it's a great fit.

I hope you're right Mr. Perez! Again, not an expert on the restaurant industry. I just imagine this would be tough. As a Vegan, I often totally snubbed this spot when it was Rocco's. That "Vegan Pizza" sign was total BS: they did not offer vegan pizza by the slice. I mean, Pizza Hut can make a whole vegan pizza, it's not necessarily hard to do.

Really looking forward to Sizzle Pie opening here.

Happy dance!

This is the best news I've heard in... FOREVER. I'm glad that corner will still be a pizza place and Sizzle Pie's $6 slice/salad special is a semi-steal I've been eating for an embarrassing number of meals recently.
7
Hearing people refer to pizza as "pie" is like fingernails on the chalkboard to me. But yes, I will eat here.
8
They have New Deal sauce! That pretty much reaches my standard for epic.
9
Yes, yes, oh god yes! Moar vegan pizza.
10
Instant Portland institution.
11
This is excellent news. When you consider that the Sizzle pie coming soon was up for over a year at the East Burnside location, I would expect this new one to be serving fresh hot pies by 2014!!!1!!1
12
Great news! I've only been to the current SP once, but I can't wait to go back. That vegan pizza was terrific.
13
@Blabby I normally think you're full of poop, but yes.
14
PERFECT.
15
Having recently had Sizzle Pie on a recent drunk stumble up Burnside: I approve.
16
@s.mirk Does the $6 slice/salad special come with a drink?
17
Why so indignant over "pie?"

Tis much better than "za."

Sizzle Pie is the best by-the-slice pizza in Portland. Having one within my lunchtime roaming range is going to make me very fat and happy.
19
A casual, vegan friendly place where I can eat a great slice of pizza downtown? YES.

No surprise they jumped on that location - hello, downtown, hello fucking Powells tourists.
21
I just hope this location also stays open as late as the other one! What a great place to have a westside location.
22
Chiming in as the only Sizzle Pie hater. Subpar, terrible salads and awful slow hipster wait staff. Boo.
23
My god, thank you tcraighenry...I thought I was the only a-hole who was utterly un-impressed with that place.

Please wait...
