I'm so glad to see some authentic European Jewish food in Portland.
Can't wait to try Beetroot.

Some of the places I've seen open under the theme of "Israeli Food" have offered nothing but Middle Eastern/Levant/Arabic food.
I walked into one and quickly realized the owner is some redhead, blue-eyed Polish dude.
Just laughed and walked out. Cultural appropriation is not cool!
Seems like there's some big money behind these shops. They've been popping up all over the west coast. Funny thing is they usually go out of business fairly quickly.
Maybe they think Americans are too stupid to know the difference?
Again, Cultural appropriation is not cool!!
Especially, when European Jews developed such great cultures and cuisine in Russia, Poland and Germany.

As a former New Yorker, I have given up trying to get something here that can only be gotten there. Just as there are things here that are of the Pacific Northwest that I would not try to get in NYC. That being said, I, too, can't wait to try Beetroot.

Not sure if @1 is slamming Shalom Y'All, but if they are they are dead wrong. The most basic bit of research shows that an Israelite is one of the owners.
