The heat wave certainly doesn't seem to have stymied the activity of Portland's food scene, as The Knock Back and Grilled Cheese Grill make a comeback, Nacheaux opens a cart in West Linn, and The Record Pub brings brews and LPs to Westmoreland. Kann List  and Bar Sousòl List  
Top Chef star Gregory Gourdet is preparing to open his highly anticipated wood-fired Haitian restaurant Kann next Thursday, August 4. A downstairs pan-Caribbean bar called Sousòl (Haitian Creole for "basement")is set to follow it two weeks later. Gourdet has been vocal about his sobriety, and the bar will feature plentiful zero-proof options in addition to beer, wine, and cocktails.

The Knock Back List and Grilled Cheese Grill List
We could all use a little good news right now, and this definitely qualifies: Two beloved businesses presumed to be closed forever due to the pandemic made a triumphant return this week. According to a press release, the bar the Knock Back reopened on Tuesday under new ownership from fellow Alberta Street fixture Donnie Vegas List , and the erstwhile food cart Grilled Cheese Grill now runs the kitchen, slinging its signature Cheesus (a burger with grilled cheese sandwiches in place of buns), patty melts, soups, breakfast sandwiches, house-made ice cream, and cookies. The Knock Back has an updated interior with murals from local artists and is serving up cocktails on tap, frozen drinks, a rotating craft beer list, zero-proof drinks, and champagne.

Anthony and Stephanie Brown's wildly popular Mexican-Southern cart reopened in a new location in West Linn on Wednesday.

The Record Pub List
If you've ever wished to be able to sip a cold beer and browse vinyl in the same place, you're in luck: Co-owners Chris Metz, Dave Charbonneau, and Andy Clark opened this combination beer bar and record store inside the Iron Horse Building last Friday.

Rock Paper Fish List
The fish and chip shop, founded by restaurateur Micah Camden, NFL player Ndamukong Suh, and RingSide Steakhouse List owner Craig Peterson, recently reopened in a new location on Northwest 23rd and Kearney. The restaurant has expanded its menu to include calamari, shrimp, and oyster po’ boys in addition to its signature Alaskan halibut fish and chips.

Skywater Fine Wines List
This new wine shop from Neil Thompson (formerly of Park Avenue Fine Wine List ) debuted in Hillsboro last week, with a selection of wines from all over the world, plus non-alcoholic beverages and pantry items.

Lil' America List
The new community-focused restaurant group Win Win, founded by Jasper Shen and Linh Tran of XLB List and queer poet and artist Catie Hannigan, announced this week that they will be launching a BIPOC and LGBTQIA+-focused food cart pod in inner Southeast Portland, according to a press release. The pod is currently accepting applications for vendors and hopes to host four to eight carts.

Oregon cheeses take home 24 awards at national conference
This week, Oregon cheeses took home no fewer than 24 awards at the Annual Cheese Competition at the American Cheese Society's 2022 conference, which was hosted in Portland this year. Tillamook, Face Rock Creamery, and Briar Rose Creamery were among the honorees.

Portland chefs appear on Netflix's 'Street Food: USA'
Portland's food scene got some face time on the small screen on Thursday, as Netflix debuted the third season of its series Street Food: USA. The season's Portland episode features well-known names like Mama Dút List , Ruthie's List , Kee's Loaded Kitchen List , and more.
