Youve got to be kidding this place is terrible!!! The breads like a brick the service is the worst in Portland and there was no one there when we were there and I seriuously dought this guy owns a restaurant in Rome maybe you should have done some research and there credentials as sommiers should be checked Its is way over the top expensive Tons of much better Italian restaurants in Portland!!!!!

Simone's and Pietro's cooking is authentic Italian cooking, excellent, and personal, in the style of the great Gino Angelini in Los Angeles with whom they were closely connected before coming to Portland and where I ate several times a week for years. Their prices are no higher than any other fine dining restaurant and their lunch special is actually a great value. Simone's sommelier certificate is on the wall for all to see - you can ask to see Pietro's if you are skeptical, but a quick look at the list should erase your skepticism if you know anything about Italian wine. As far as the restaurant in Italy goes, ask Simone for the details.

Handsome, chiseled chefs! You made Tipper so angry, it can't spell!

My husband and I had a quick dinner there last night, and it was great. Decor is nothing much to speak of, but whatever. We sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen. We each had a pasta dish -- he had the gnocchi and I had the tagliatelle -- and both of our meals were great. Thought the portions looked small at first, but they were rich, delicious, and filled us right up. Plus they gave us a second basket of bread, and we loooved all of the breads. Service was friendly and attentive.

This place is wonderful. Honest, layered, memorable.
