Amnesia Brewing Grand Opening

832 N Beech, 281-7708, noon-midnight

As Mississippi residents know, Amnesia Brewing has been open for a few months now, but this gathering celebrates the release of their very own beers. Be one of the first to sip the brewery's very own malty blends, while reveling in the pleasant din of local musicians like Diggabone, and Pieces. Along with three-dollar brews, Amnesia will be serving up sausages, burgers, and BBQ ribs, and a special black raspberry mead to mix up the beer tasting frenzy. Here's a great excuse to start drinking early, as if the sky being dark at 6 pm isn't excuse enough. KS

Mudai's New Lounge

801 NE Broadway, 287-5433

Recently remodeled, this funky, little dive on Broadway now includes an upstairs lounge, DJ booth, a re-vamped music system, and balcony seating. Best of all, it also includes a full liquor license and bar! As in, not "domestic or imported," but "well or call"! The update has made Mudai a strange mix of homestyle dining, with a funky, modern tilt. And, not to point out the obvious, but who wouldn't like a little more ambiance with their Ethiopian. As for the food, it's still great, erring on the side of less garlic and spice than the other Ethiopian restaurants in town, so you can swap spit with confidence after dinner. MANU BERELLI
