Zach's Shack Hot Dog Eating Contest, 4611 SE Hawthorne, 233-4616, Sat 3 pm
In conjunction with the Hawthorne Street Fair, Zach hosts his annual hot dog eating contest. 12 harrowing minutes of gut stuffing and you could be the next champ. Last year the winner ate 11 wieners, which doesn't seem like much to me. Also, Zach's now serves beer and wine, which helps those dogs slide down quick. KS

Tribeca Nights, Portland Under the Stars, Union Station, 800 NW 6th, 222-5144 for tickets, Sat 7 pm, $40-50
Finally there's an occasion for you to get all gussied up in that summer dress you got on sale, because Portland Monthly is hosting a summer soiree. Enjoy fine food, an open bar, street performers, fashion vignettes, music and dancing, and a surprise finale at 10:30 pm. It's a little yuppie, but it sounds fun—ahem, open bar—and proceeds go to the Oregon Humane Society and the Ronald McDonald House. So pony up. KS

Rock 'n' Roll Camp For Girls Benefit, Fife Restaurant, 4440 NE Fremont, 971-222-3433 for reservations, Sun 5:30 pm, $65
Apparently it's the week of expensive benefit dinners, because Fife's hosting one, too. Enjoy a three-course dinner with wine, a silent auction of who knows what, and a performance by Rock 'n' Roll Camp band the Ready. C'mon filthy rich Beaumont Village residents: eat good food and support girls rocking already. KS
