Ever see the movie, Dancer in the Dark, starring Björk? It was produced by the European Union as propaganda against the death penalty in the United States. It posits the most extremely unlikely scenario, as if even once such implausible case were ever to actually exist, then that's reason enough for there not to be the death penalty. I liked the movie. Both Björk and Catherine Deneuve are wonderful in it. It's a black melodrama, with one unexpected laugh line that only I dared to laugh at loud about in the theater.

"Selma, you've got a hearing for a stay of execution, on Wednesday."

"...but you know they're hanging me on Tuesday, Kathy."
