PErhaps you would be less salty/needlessly defensive around a renter's perspective on landlord's passing the cost along if you realized how prevalent single family occupancy rental homes are. There are *tons* of low income people living in homes that would be forced to absorb the entire increase their landlord passes along. Lower income than you - that's why they're renting instead of buying. Grow the fuck up.
It's totally absurd that there's no city wage tax here (like Philadelphia for example). That would actually distribute the burden more evenly and would make me more likely to vote for more taxes. Would also solve the issue of all the moochers up in Vantucky that take jobs here but contribute nothing in return.
Oh come on, eprophet. I don't like my taxes to pay for wars, but that doesn't mean I disagree with the general concept of taxes, or that I wish mine were lower. I'm happy to pay taxes for things I think are great, like infrastructure, transit, social services, parks, schools, etc., but that is a separate question than are our public officials spending wisely or efficiently. Nobody, including yourself, thinks taxes qua taxes are so objectively great that you add another zero to your annual tax filing to kick more money into the collective pot.
It's the new, "Some of my best friends are black/Jews/gay/etc."
Then I guess they shouldn't vote for the tax increase?
