@OnlineSearcher,

Inspectors and/or transit police have every right to question someone on the train. You obviously don't ride often because if you did you wouldn't find the scenario strange, but let me hash it out for you:

Inspector/police walks up, asks to see your fare. You provide it, they move on. If you don't have it, you'll be removed and either fined or given a warning. If you have it, but it's a special pass (youth, student, honored citizen, etc) it will be ok if you look convincing or request additional information if they need proof. They have every right to request state ID. As a reminder, all citizens are required to carry state ID on them at all time subject to questioning by state officials at any time.

I see this ALL THE TIME, to people of all ages genders and races. The only time something becomes a problem is when the person being questioned makes a scene and acts like their rights trump the position of the enforcement officer. They do not.

I will also add, as a person who has been ticketed and searched by transit police in my younger days, their wasn't a time it happened that I didn't deserve it. I was a stupid teenager. My guess is, your daughters need a lesson on respecting authority. Also, if they didn't look like hoochies that were 10 years older than they are, the youth pass would probably make more sense to the inspector.

oh and I/A: he was trying to prove that you shouldn't break the fucking law. Cops are usually hard on youth and young adults because they don't want the behavior to become a trend. Technically, your daughter broke the law. Get over it, learn from it, always have correct fare. Simple. And btw, it probably wasn't even that big of a deal.

But what do I know, your daughter wouldn't feed you only one side of the story and your protective parental instinct wouldn't kick in would it?

Buy a ticket. Problem solved.

Checking tickets is perfectly ok. Verbal abuse of a child by an adult is not. Its a sign of a predator abusing his "authority". See it all the time. Report it or be complacent/complicit.

A monthly pass for an adult is only 100.00

Please wait...
