What?

You make it sound like it was his choice, not yours, to roam around free at night. I'm sorry for your loss and all, but cats aren't human and don't have the mental capacity to have things "explained" to them.

I have two indoor cats who are 8 years old and not once have they ever been outside. Why? Because I decided not to let them. As their caretaker, it is my responsibility to make sure they are safe and well cared for and that means taking every measure to keep them indoors. I've been 100% successful for over 8 years; they've never escaped!

I know everyone here will think I'm a big "meanie" for having the gall to say that it's the human's responsibility for keeping their animals safe, but that's just the way the cookie's gotta crumble.
