Trimet did a really good job. There isn't a single other place in the country with a comparable transit system that can tout the success rate of getting people moved in a city that was unprepared. Thousands left the car home and took the bus and max to work. They put drivers on overtime and ran increased schedules with the anticipation of delays making for an average of 30-45 min delays compared to hours of delays which is the way Trimet was back in the early 2000's and prior. Literally every city with significant snowfall / ice and a developed transit system ALSO has the infrastructure in place that clears roads and they still endure half hour delays during winter storms (ie, Calgary, Chicago, PA, Milwaukee, Minneapolis). I agree with your post, a lot of people don't have the option to not work for a week and a lot of people treat them like garbage. But I will say, this city and Multnomah County sucked, not Trimet.
I love this so much it's stupid. Always look for the helpers when the shit hits the fan, and you sir have the my kind of perspective.
