I remember first getting into craft beer when I moved to Oregon 7 years ago. At the time it seemed magical, mysterious and cultured. And over the past 7 years, I have come to realize that it is just the Affliction shirt of the last 2010's. I went to a can release the other weekend at Portland's Great Notion Brewery and waited in line for an hour to shell out $60 for three 4 packs of Double Stack, Imperial Breakfast Stout made with maple syrup and coffee. But why? A quick google search shows that many other breweries make this same beer with the same kinds of ingredients. It's just selling hype and validating alcoholism as a cool hobby. I'm over you craft beer. You've just made me fatter and spend money on shit I didn't need to be cool.
