I love you, Jetta owner. We need a flotilla of normal cars parking in front of the fugly 675k new construction until the owner sells at a loss and drags their sorry ass back to Cali/Texas etc.

2

Street parking does not come with your house.

3

If you paid 600+k for your Portland house, YOU are the puke, not somebody in a Jetta.
How do you honestly think you're entitled to a claim on that parking space AT ALL? Even people in the suburbs learn to park around the block if they have to.
Pull your head out of your ass. Your money doesn't buy you out of the social contract. That ugly, ridiculous shitbox you occupy is worthy of far more ridicule than any parking grievance.
@Rev I imagine a version of this flotilla to be 1998 champagne Toyota Camrys parked in every spot, up and down the street.

Where's your off-street parking.IA? Is your over-sized garage full of a boat and your wife's SUV (for carpool)? Maybe the rest of us hate you for causing real estate prices to bubble.

6

Just as I expected, bunch of losers. I actually do have a driveway and a garage but you know what? I’d like to park on the street in front of MY OWN HOME that I do pay taxes on.
Obviously my rant touched a few nerves in the rental community but do you folks pay property taxes? Probably not! Most of you live in houses that are desperately in need of repair (yet pay enough in rent to buy your own place). Some of you live in houses that have 5-6 roommates! That 5-6 cars!
Go get fucked and stop parking in front of people’s houses on aa regular basis. At least make it more random and convenient to US who PAY OUR TAXES.

@notReallyPayingFairTaxes:
So 20% income tax doesn't count? What about roommate situations where nobody drives? Your derogatory view of renters doesn't help you make your case. It only serves as proof that you need a severe beating.
Who serves or makes or delivers your food? Who rings up your groceries? Who pours your drinks? Serves you coffee? Who fixes your car?
All tax payers with wages so low that a loan on a down payment is unrealistic, let alone getting approved for a 30 year home loan. Certainly can't afford to save, which has been made even more difficult by you moving to Portland, and then to add insult to injury, are subsequently judged as lazy or unskilled by overpaid shitheads like yourself.
Fuck the fuck off and get the fuck out of my town. If you opine this point of view within earshot, I will not hesitate to let you know how purposefully obtuse you are.

10

Doesn't matter if you pay more taxes than the entire population of Portland combined. That parking spot in front of your house does not belong to you. Whine and cry and rail and name call all you want. Anyone with a car can park in front of your house every damn day and there is not a thing you can do about it! And you come to write about this on I, Anonymous. Who, exactly, is the loser?

11

Take it to Nextdoor Bradley.

12

Hey guess what IA...no one cares how much money you overpaid for that house!!! Also, no one cares to hear you complain about your taxes! If you think paying taxes or buying a house makes you entitled, then not only are you an idoit, but also an asshole. Why did you bother moving/living here if you don't care about your neighbors. I bet that Jetta owner is a much better person than you. I bet all your new neighbors think you are the fucking worst!!

13

The only reason your inflated home cost so much, including your annual taxes, is because you chose to buy a house in a neighborhood which you knew had local attractions and drew people INTO the neighborhood. I'm not going to subscribe to the transplant hate, it's a distraction from the point. Let's instead focus on the fact that you're probably a moderately intelligent person. You've done well for yourself and presumably work in an affluent capacity. Undoubtedly, you probably did research on your home and neighborhood when you moved in - that's what any reasonably intelligent well-to-do person would do isn't it? You probably drove through the neighborhood and commented to your spouse - "wow this is great, we're only a 5 minute walk from this boulevard that all these Portlanders love, how great we can afford a home so close se we don't have to drive in and find parking every weekend we want brunch." And now you're home, aggravated about some car parked in front of your home, as if you had no anticipation of that being reality. So now I'm confused, you must not be very intelligent or use any matter of common-sense. Because common sense tells me that people typically only park their vehicles (routinely and on the weekends) in popular spots where people eat brunch and go to tourist-trap souvenir shops. You had to have known that. So what's the response? You bought the home from afar and didn't know what you were getting into? Or you knew that it was that way but you bought anyways because it was a nice status symbol? You can buy a home in most price ranges in most neighborhoods without the enduring issue of cars parked on streets. Maybe here and there, but nothing like the routine that's got you upset. So deal with it, or move to another place in the city, or just another city!

14

Clearly trolling and he caught some fish.

15

Agreed, Demondog, fake I/A, landed the fish as intended. The people complaining about street parking are long-time residents who got used to the idea that it was "theirs," not recent local transplants who knew they were moving into an increasingly dense city.

If folks are coming in from another city with enough money to buy a $675k house, they are coming from an even larger and more expensive city, in which case they certainly would be used to having to compete for free on-street parking, because that's what you have to do in every major city.

16

You do understand that "property taxes" are included in the monthly rental fees -- rental tenants pay taxes. And there is income tax, gas tax, etc. I personally do not believe this is a fake IA -- I think this person truly believes that HE run the world, not girls.

17

@Demon and Flavio, normally I'd agree with you. But I literally had a lady get snide with me this weekend 5 blocks off of Alberta. She was in her 30's, entitled, and that's why I put forward the opinions in my response (#13). Some people actually do suck, despite our attempts to apply reason.

18

Go easy on the IA poster. Jettas are made by VW, which we all know was started by Hitler. Clearly this homeowner flies the Antifa flag, and was just trying curb fascism, so to speak ...

19

I love how IA got utterly destroyed, came back on here to break bad, and got crushed even worse than the first time. I would write more but you guys pretty much handled this one. Nice job!

20

Your $675K home does not impress me. Nor does your self-proclaimed status as righteous taxpayer. Guess where the tax money comes from that Landlords pay? Property taxes go up, rents go up. Such a silly argument.
