it never ceases to amaze me what people focus on in life and what makes people angry about other people. Your rant has so many assumptions and stereotypes in it, you might need to educate yourself (though I doubt you will). Plenty of people in this country want to retire in a city where there is a lot to do. And if they happen to own the home where they live and have for decades, bully for them! No one has any obligation whatsoever to do your bidding.

Who made you the boss? I bet you are an insufferable ass who everyone else wishes would leave the city so they could live their lives (retired or otherwise) in peace.

Since you can't control what other people do and can only control what you do, you will be a much happier person if you leave Portland and live somewhere else. A small town in Nebraska might be nice.

Oh and you might want to read up on this, too. Retirees are not going to leave Portland.

In 2010, Portland, Oregon applied to become to become a member of the WHO’s Global Network of Age-Friendly cities; it was among the original nine metro areas selected, and the first in the United States.

And you never mentioned the one thing Boomers gave us that we can really hate them for, and which they can still keep giving us even if (ESPECIALLY IF) they move somewhere non-urban: President-for-Life Cheeto.

6

does make a point about Boomers buying during the golden age. Facts have proven, inflation outpaces wages since 1980s. Plus, I wouldn't mind school improving if that means more young educated families move to the neighborhood

I’m old. Leave town? I do what I want.

OK, somejealousguy267, put all the olds on ice floes. Then you hyper-efficient, underpaid youths do twice the work. Your corporate overlords bank half the profits and buy robots with the rest, pink-slipping you, who will now compete with grandma to pump lattes for the mermaid. That’s a win-win-win!

No you.

stunning display of angry incoherence. i guess ageism really is the last acceptable form of discrimination.

I love age-ism. What's your plan, OP, when you hit 60? Kill yourself? The hatred you spew on older people will come back to haunt you when you turn 60. You'll have self-hatred while many of the posters above will be in a position to accept their age. Enjoy your future self-loathing.

Hey OP,

Blow me.
