contractors are charging $100 an hour for mostly unskilled laborers. That's what contracts are for. You're bitching about something you can easily counter with paper documents. I'm guessing you're not licensed or insured. You're probably a handyman wanting more money for a job that doesn't cost much. Unfortunately honest labor doesn't exist anymore.

Changes are one thing, I/A, it's always understood that changes to an initial plan will increase the amount of work time and thus the cost, but for unforeseen structural issues, if you got the job on a bid without doing your due diligence about them (as super experienced as you are and all), that's on you.
