You should Google "why don't women and minorities ride bikes" and read up. In places where the infrastructure ensures safety and separation from motor vehicles, the demographics are just as diverse as any other modes.
then get your ass on a bike. It's the most rewarding form of transit.

I love riding my bike for recreation and fitness. But no fucking way would I use it for my daily transport. We have to face reality. Most people either don't live within biking distance of work and all the other places they need to go throughout the day, or they don't have the physical ability to do it, or they just don't want to get run over. We should focus our transportation efforts on road and mass transit. Not bikes.
