My first thought was, the Village Voice still exists?
My second thought was, people outside of NYC read the Village Voice?
As for the Pazz and Jop poll: There is a very specific reason it is named what it is named (historical context matters). It was named in acknowledgement of the defunct magazine Jazz & Pop, and adopted the ratings system used in that publication's annual critics poll. It was created by music critic Robert Christgau who has spent his life writing as a music critic and oversaw the poll from its inception in 1971 to 2005.

@2 FTW
You really had to go anonymous, in Portland, to say this? Nancy Rommelmann, is that you?
CR thank you for bringing a refreshing level of intelligence and musical knowledge to the conversation.
@IA if you're going to call people stupid, you might want to correctly spell Village Voice in your title line.
