I wish PBS didn't have to beg for $ period. I have never understood pledge drives. They must work or they wouldn't keep doing them, but the programming during a pledge drive should either be what people have been and want to continue watching or extra special awesome programming they can ONLY see on PBS that will make people want to give. Or there is always the option (my preference, but each to their own) of just donating the money and not watching the pledge drive.
This is my fucking rant too.. Like I would gladly give a shitload of money not to listen to the pandering, monotonous pledge drive patter that the hosts are forced to spew for an entire week. I'm betting that on average PBS listeners are smarter than the usual radio consumer, and this nonsense is just a slap in the face to that intelligence.
