There’s plenty of room in between atheism on one hand and biblical fundamentalism on the other for belief in some concept of god. Yes, the anti-gay and anti-abortion crowd give religion a bad name - but they don’t represent all of religion. Plenty of liberal religious folks out there. It’s even possible to believe in God and evolution at the same time. And plenty of wars have been fought for reasons besides religion too.
