I'm going to diverge from the herd here. Too many people use words to get attention and are not sincerely engaged in the act of communication. Communication is contingent upon accurately gauging the other person's interest and receptivity. When people use conversation to dominate the energy and not as an exchange of ideas, it just becomes a race for the last molecule of oxygen in the room. This is not "interaction" as some people here have implied, unless you're talking about the tackle football kind of interaction. I find that people who understand this are infinitely more attractive than people who don't.
