Pro tip, just leave the house early. You'd be surprised how few fucks you give about all these stress addicts when you have half an hour to spare.

PS "Tesla McFuckface" is awesome and I am totally stealing it.

Actually honking is for emergencies only. It's in the Oregon Driver's Handbook.

@3 yes I was going to post the same thing (though the OP does say to honk if anyone does anything dangerous). honking was always meant for emergencies only, no matter where you are driving. the lack of understanding or compliance with the zipper merge here, however, is beyond my comprehension.

Agreed re: zipper merge. As someone who has to sit in the slog waiting in line from HWY 30 to get across the St. Johns Bridge every afternoon (and the ensuing zipper merge at the top), I see way too many dumbasses. I love how at the top of Greeley (just before Adidas HQ) they now have a sign that states "TAKE TURNS". LMAO we're so fucked.

Sorry, there are other reasons to honk besides an emergency, I don't care what any handbook has to say. Also, this IA is not about a zipper merge. This is someone who is using the right hand lane for passing instead of the left hand lane (I bet the handbook calls it the "passing lane"). I assume it's one of those asshole drivers who jump from lane to lane to get home 2 minutes faster. I have to say this is one of the few times passive aggressiveness is OK with me.

Oops, just re-read the post, and I guess it's technically a zipper merge, but obviously the guy wasn't just merging from a different road coming in, he really was passing the car in front of him. Still, I'd say aggressive driving is always more dangerous than passive aggressive driving.

@7 No way is aggressive driving more dangerous than passive aggressive driving. Aggressive drivers are predictable, can easily be identified, and can be avoided (slow down, move away from them, etc.). I grew up on the east coast and cut my teeth on driving in NJ and NYC and driving in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland is way more difficult because passive aggressive drivers are unpredictable and when they finally choose to unleash their anger they are far more dangerous.

7 - Tailgaters are dangerous drivers.
