Man! This is great. Adults celebrating on the weekend before? No way, Jose! Day of the dead goes from Halloween until Nov. 2 apparently. Not to like, appropriate any of Mexican culture - not sure why people would get mad if people aren't doing it only for the partying aspect - and I think it's a great tradition to honor the dead. Halloween is a synthesis of Pagan and Christian influences apparently, after browsing through Wikipedia, and Day of the Dead coincides with All Saints and All Souls Day, which follow after All Hallow's Eve- hallow... meaning holy. Now I am probably incorrect on some details but yeah, this is great that it falls on Thursday. Cause now I get the best of both worlds (when the veil between the two are lifted); I get to scare and entertain the kids trick or treating, make an awesome jack o lantern, think about the spooky business of the spirit world, possibly appreciate mexican culture, and then get drunk with my peers. Great holiday! Only curmudgeons hate it.

Worst part is the stupid lull after when everyone starts thinking it's time to get prepared for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Happy Halloween
