I would like to say an anonymous heartfelt thank you to the kind person who stood out in the rainy winter weather with the person who decided to stand in the middle of the busy street this afternoon. I glanced down from my desk to see you standing on the sidewalk, keeping a watchful eye and even sometimes pleading with the person to get out of the street when cars came perilously close to hitting them.
I looked up from my work at 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, to see you still at your watch. You were still there at almost an hour when I called police dispatch to check that they had been called. You stood vigil when so many others (including me) would have given up. Even when the person that was with you came out of the shelter of the building overhang multiple times, probably to ask you to give up, you stood fast.
If everyone was so caring and determined, the world would be an infinitely better place.
