I read a post from a transgendered 16 year old that included this gem:

"I'm taking the step next year of telling my teachers my preferred name. My mom doesn't fully support but she doesn't hate me for it so I'm pretty lucky"

He's 16 and navigating high school while trans, with all the social baggage every teen goes through he has the added stress of being trans. He's worrying about his friends, teachers, and family... and his mom.

When the silver lining in your life is "mom doesn't hate me" - hopefully illustrates the reason trans kids have a higher rate of suicide. My heart breaks for kids that consider it "lucky" to not be hated by their own mother.
